Acute Respiratory Infection ARI Hubs are designed to relieve pressure on other parts of the local healthcare system. We’re providing this service to make it easier for parents whose children are unwell with suspected respiratory infections and showing symptoms like wheezing, coughing and shortness of breath to access a face-to-face appointment with a clinician, as well as easing the burden on Primary Care, ambulances and A&E.
Who can access the ARI Hubs?
These hubs are available to children aged 15 and under with symptoms of any respiratory illness, such as wheezing, coughing or shortness of breath, that have lasted for 7 days or under.
How do I access ARI Hubs?
Appointments at the ARI Hubs are available through your GP practice or NHS111 – patients will be referred to the ARI Hubs if the service providing the initial consultation, such as your GP, care navigator or another clinician, finds it necessary.
All appointments at the Hubs are face-to-face appointments and will be available on the same day as referral.
First Contact Physiotherapy
FCP First Contact Physiotherapy, is a new NHS service in which you see a physiotherapist instead of your GP for your first appointment about your musculoskeletal condition. This service is available for patients 16 years of age and over.
Musculoskeletal conditions can be:
Soft tissue injuries, sprains strains or sports injuries
Arthritis in any joint
Possible problems with muscles, ligaments, tendons or bones e.g. tennis elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome
Spinal pain including lower back, mid back and neck pain
Spinal related pain in arms or legs including nerve symptoms e.g. pins and needles or numbness
Post orthopaedic surgery
The appointment will involve taking details to assess and make a diagnosis.
FCP will then discuss a treatment plan with you, this may be, exercises to self-manage or refer you for onward treatment to the appropriate service.
Asthma review appointments are available with our clinical pharmacist, Kathryn.
Medication accounts for 25% of the carbon footprint of the NHS and inhalers are the biggest contributor to this. 5 doses of certain types of inhalers have large a carbon footprint similar to driving 8 miles in a car. Therefore the surgery is working to help ensure you are on the most effective inhaler for your needs whilst also looking to limit the impact on the environment.
If you are on inhalers and would like to discuss this further please make an appointment with Kathryn and she will discuss this with you.
Non-NHS Services
A number of examinations and reports for employment, sporting or insurance purposes are not available on the NHS. Fees will be charged for these. Please ask at reception for details.
Minor Surgery
Please consult a doctor about any moles, lumps or bumps that may be concerning you. These may be suitable for removal at the surgery.
